The Barbados Museum & Historical Society, in collaboration with the Department of History and Philosophy of the University of the West Indies, proudly presents the 2024 Lecture Series themed: 'Newton Uncovered: Exploring the 21st Century Legacy of the Enslaved Burial Ground at Newton.'
As they celebrate 90 years as the foremost authority on Barbadian history, heritage, and culture, the Barbados Museum & Historical Society, through its Newton Development Subcommittee, invites you to join them for a series of seminars and accompanying in-person tours.
Their third lecture in this series, "New Perspectives from the Newton Archives," will be presented by Dr. Misha Ewen on Thursday June 13th, 2024 at 6:00pm.
Then, join them on Friday, June 14th at 9:00am for the accompanying bus tour, "Petticoat Plantocracy" , where they will explore the plantocracy’s women as they look at how women shaped the plantation system in Barbados!
